Mary Lou Brings It Home. And a New VanCore Executive

The tenth and final speech in the Competent Communicator’s Manual is something special. You’re done! But of course now you have the experience to know… you’ve just begun.

Mary Lou, the busiest woman in the Lower Mainland, knocked off #10, inspired the crowd as required, and will now apply to receive her Competent Communicator Award from Toastmasters International just in time to clinch our Distinguished Club status.

Then came Connie. Like Bodemeister on the heels of I’ll Have Another, Connie is racing to complete her AC Bronze speeches in time to elevate VanCore to Select Distinguished, just one level below the highest award, President’s Distinguished Club. (Jonathan, who’s working on his AC Silver, will make it a lock.)

Slipstreaming behind the two veterans was relative newcomer Abrahan B, who became a club member just three weeks ago. In his second CC Manual speech, Abrahan got beautifully “to the point.”

And then the decks were cleared for the People’s Business. It was Election Day. What followed was the voting in of one of the strongest executives in club history.

Folks, meet Vancore’s new Board of Directors:

President–Connie Hubbs; VP of Education, Cory Forrest; VP of Membership, Borzo Salehi; VP of Membership, Loa Fridfinnson, VP of Public Relations; Treasurer, Victor He. Secretary, Debra Jang.

And a special shout must go to our new Sergeant-at-Arms, Susan Chew.

Susan is, of course, the club’s outgoing president. Its pumping heart. (No, she did not write this.) Thanks, Susan, for a great year. And thanks for staying close by. Can we call you in the middle of the night if, you know, we misplace our keys?

Congratulations and Best of Luck to even a greater Term in 2012/2013.
