Two New Members and an engaging Media Interview

Although it was another rainy Wednesday, we had a “bonanza” (word of the day) of four exciting international guests: Gustavo from Brazil, Abrahan from Peru, Shine from Shanghai and Aranka who has been in Canada for seven years.   Adding to the dynamics of the meeting Abrahan couldn’t resist signing up before saying “Adios” and Cal Qui who was a guest the week before, also became a member.

To our delight, along with Theo, Loa, Borzo and Cal, all four guests participated in Table Topics, covering such subjects as “job hunting, arts in the city, social housing and life and sights in Brazil and Peru”.  Our Table Topics Master Angela, did a fine job leading us through fascinating topics to practice our impromptu speaking.  As always, she inspired and motivated with understanding and much empathy.

Connie held court for the day capturing our attention with a speech made for a consumer and media broadcast audience.  She is working on her Advanced Manual for TV Communications.  The objective of her presentation was to handle a press conference with confidence and poise.  In lieu of the evaluation she was bombbarded with a barrage of questions by the “press” consisting of Aranka, Angela, Borzo and Susan.  Well prepared and knowledgeable, Connie was unflappable and held her own as a professional person of influence would.

Last minute Chair replacement was handled with finesse by Loa who quickly provided the Agenda, called the meeting to order, filled the vacant roles and called for the introduction of members and guests.  Cal did the Timer’s Report and Borzo doubled up as General Evaluator and Grammarian.

The last Meeting in May is coming up fast.  June will be quite busy with the Election of the new Board of Directors, getting all our DCP point in before June 30th, and preparing for another vibrant term, beginning on July 1st, 2012.

Looking forward to our next exciting session.
